Safeway Waterfront Bluesfest 2013

I had a great time, as always, at Bluesfest this year.  However, there were two changes this year that I didn't love.  The biggest issue this year was the volume.  We always sit in the exact same spot, so I was definitely comparing apples to apples.  I can only assume that the hotel next door requested a volume decrease.  Since they sell out every year because of the festival I really think they can just deal.
The other issue was a blessing and a curse.  The Bluesfest was able to get Robert Plant to headline the final day this year.  I'm thrilled that we can get acts that big, and that it means more money for the Oregon Food Bank.  Unfortunately, it made a drastic difference in the overall feel and spirit that the festival has had in years past.  We arrived at 9am to set up our chairs and enjoy the day.  Around 7pm the people that came to see "Zeppelin" for $50 arrived and started pushing and bitching and complaining.  Security was so busy that they couldn't possibly keep up with the demands.  It went from being Bluesfest to a classic rock show at the Sleep Country Amphitheater.  It was a clash of cultures in so many ways.  It was a very unfortunate way to end such a lovely weekend.  That said I will go back next year, but I will plan my trip more thoughtfully.

Leave Your Adult Toddlers At Home

I hate the trend of women bringing their adult toddlers, or men, shopping.  Why is your idiot husband standing in front of the shoes I'm trying to look at?!  Do you really like it when he tells you which shoes to try on?  Have you not seen the adult toddler chairs by the dressing rooms and escalators?  These are the things that were going through my head the other day when this woman and her entire family were taking over the women's shoe department so that one women could buy a pair of shoes.  Her husband and kids were miserable and making me miserable too!  Is it too much to ask that you let them stay home?  Why are you punishing everyone?  Leave them home!

Go Away Lance Armstrong

I am so sick of hearing Lance Armstrong talk!  Why can't he just go away?! He loves to hear himself talk SO much that he's willing to risk prosecution just to get on TV.  I know people think that Livestrong is a good organization, but cancer awareness?  I think we're plenty aware, lets look at prevention.  I don't think he gets that it's not just that he lied and cheated, it's that he was such a pompous asshole while doing it.   And while we're on the subject of lying and cheating at games, who does that?  Children, that's who!  Poor cry baby Lance just wanted to be as good as the other kids.  Leveling the playing field etc.  I give that one massive eye roll!!!!  I hope the next time I hear his name it's followed by the list of things he's being prosecuted for.
